On 10th, March, a client from China Taiwan contacted our company in search of custom transformer cores for their transformer construction project. During the process, we first encountered the problem of materials. The customer claimed that they wanted to use non-oriented silicon steel base material imported from Japan — 23ZDKH85 in grade. This made a small challenge for us. Because most Chinese iron core manufacturers are apt to sourcing silicon steel raw materials from domestic mills, like Baosteel and WISCO. Gnee is no exception.

Fortunately, according to international electrical steel standards, we consulted many relevant data and determined its equivalent in China Standard — 23W85 non oriented silicon steel. Then, we compiled these references and communicated the details to the customer, expressing our desire to obtain a material replacement. After three days of waiting, the customers said they reached an internal consensus to agree to the replacement. Next, we enter the production stage successfully.

23ZDKH85

Items	Description
23	means 0.23mm in thickness, which is an ultra-thin specification and is commonly used in high-efficiency transformers
ZDKH	represents the material type and grade code. “ZD” usually refers to High-grade Non-oriented Silicon Steel, similar to the Chinese “W” series or the European “M” series. “KH” may be a manufacturer’s internal code or a special processing process (such as laser scoring, special coating, etc.)
85	shows iron loss value (P1.5/50 ≤ 8.5W/kg). It indicates that the iron loss value under 1.5 Tesla (T) and 50Hz conditions is ≤ 8.5W/kg

In the corresponding Chinese standard, 23W85 non-oriented silicon steel can meet the requirement (0.23mm, P1.5/50 ≤ 8.5W/kg).

After ten days of serious work, we finished the production task through many stages from material cutting, laminating, and assembling, to testing. Our Taiwan customer was very satisfied with our transformer core products and praised our services many times. Finally, they expressed that they would be able to proceed with the transformer production stage as scheduled, and showed their hope for long-term cooperation with us.
